There is something special about seeing the work you do every day still serving a church more than two decades later.
While recently visiting Charleston, South Carolina, I remembered that Rainsville Church Pew had furnished a church in the area back in 2004. I decided to see if I could find it and once I did, I was fortunate enough to find someone there who was kind enough to let me inside.
I was excited that I found the church, but I was even more excited when I walked into the sanctuary.
The pews still looked great 22 years later!
More Than Just the Pews
When we completed this project in 2004, Rainsville Church Pew provided much more than the sanctuary pews. We also built several coordinating pieces of church furniture, including the:
- Pulpit
- Communion table
- Flower stands
- Chancel chairs
Seeing all of these pieces after so many years was a great reminder of why quality materials and craftsmanship matter.
Still Serving the Same Church 22 Years Later
One of the best parts of the visit was getting to talk with a gentleman at the church who told me that he was attending this church back in 2004 and actually remembers when we installed the new pews.
He told me they are still loving their pews today. It was great to hear that the pews have served them so well over the years.
Church furniture isn’t something that should be built for just a few years. A sanctuary may see hundreds of people every week. Over 22 years, think about the number of Sunday morning services, weddings, funerals, revivals, Christmas programs, Easter services and other special moments that have taken place in those pews.
And after all of that use, they’re still there serving the church.
Quality You Can See Decades Later
At Rainsville Pew, we talk a lot about craftsmanship and building church furniture to last. But sometimes the best way to explain what that means is simply to show it.
These pews have been in this sanctuary since 2004.
They’ve spent 22 years being used by a church congregation.
That’s the kind of longevity we want when we build a piece of furniture.
From the construction of the pews to the finishing, upholstery and details of the coordinating furniture, our goal is to build something a church can be proud of when it is installed and continue to be proud of many years down the road.
Built for Generations
Churches are unique because the furniture inside them becomes part of so many important moments in people’s lives. Families worship together in these pews. Children grow up in them. Weddings and funerals take place around them. Generations of church members may use the same furniture.
That’s why we believe church furniture should be built accordingly.
A Special Trip Back
What started as a simple stop while I was visiting Charleston turned into a great reminder of what we’re working toward every day at Rainsville Church Pew.
Seeing our work 22 years after it was installed and hearing that the church is still happy with it was something I was so proud to see firsthand.
We are thankful for every church that has trusted Rainsville Church Pew Company over the years, whether we furnished their sanctuary decades ago or we’re building their furniture today.
